Cricket

Guess what? Lavakula Hapu went to Cricket on Mondays! We did it in the multi space. It was really fun. We learned skills like….bowling stance and getting ready for the ball because our cricket coach Josie is sneaky when she throws the ball. Our coach plays cricket at Auckland Cricket. The First skill she taught us was stance. We have to put our legs not that long and our hands in front of our chest. Your partner is supposed to throw the ball at your chest. Another skill that coach Josie showed us was catching, we have to throw the ball to the chest because if you don't the ball would be flying over your head. If you on a real game someone else would've got the ball. “Seriously Tammy” said Jenny “What….” said Tammy and I said “Why did you throw the ball over my head” Tammy replied “But you didn't catch it “ After we talked Josie told u to play a game where we get into a circle and Josie has her stick and she throws the ball to someone but at times she gets sneaky.

Narrative Assessment: Jenny and her Writing

Learner: Jenny
Area:Writing Level 2
Date: 12.11.18
In Writing, we have been recounting our experiences. A recount is retelling a learner's experience from their own point of view. Some of our experiences include: the blindfold game, cricket and basketball. We have been learning to add in detail by using adjectives, verbs, feelings and emotions in our writing. Our hapu have been working hard to include at least three different words to paint a better picture for our audience.

Jenny is able to write and her build sentences into paragraphs. She has been learning to add more detail and ideas into her writing using new interesting words like adjectives and verbs. Jenny is beginning to order her ideas carefully into paragraphs. She is developing her curiosity by asking questions and is slowly making connections by using ideas discussed in a larger group. Jenny collaborates with others by sharing her ideas in discussions. She is beginning to think carefully about her ideas and the audience she is writing for.

Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts

Next Steps:
Continue using detailed ideas in your writing
Reflect on your learning and think of how you can improve
Keep practising your writing at home

Blindfold Challenge

Guess what our hapu did today! We played a game and we called it…..THE BLINDFOLD GAME!

My experience was ok…. I mean at least I had fun! The first thing we did was go walk to the library and we sat down on the big may area. Miss Lavakula told us to buddy up and my buddy was my bff, Tammy! I chose Tammy because I trusted her and she trusts me hehe!

In the library we got blindfolded and every-one was included! I asked tammu if I could be her partner. Tammy got blindfolded first because she was begging about it. So I let her because I’m nice and I should be grateful because its my birthday on Nov 4!! When I leaded her around the library  but instead, I was so close to getting her outside and it was hilarious!! Then Miss Lavakula told us to switch over and Tammy helped me to put the blindfold on. When I wore it, it was pitch black like I couldn't see a single thing only black! I bumped into a few people, but I forgot who I bumped into tho….

My experience felt weird but it was fun. It felt weird because I had to walk without seeing and it felt fun because we got blindfolded and Morrow and Moopanar hapu did not participate!
